Dancing Across Borders

In Performing Art on March 18, 2010 at 1:03 am

Dancing Across Borders is a film opening next week at the Quad Cinema. It features Sokvannara Sar, a Cambodian boy discovered in Angkor Wat and flown to the School of American Ballet. This movie follows his amazing story to its culmination with the Pacific Northwest Ballet. He had no ballet training prior to his move to New York. Learning English and dance at the same time – no small feat!

Although it might be a tough film to pin down, I expect it will be well worth the effort. Hat tip to Dancing Perfectly Free.

Ballerinas In Still Frame

I stumbled across some beautiful photographs by Dane Shitagi of ballerinas in New York City. Not in the usual context, these photos use outdoor situations. You can find the collection from his project here.
